Final Reflection 2

1. How do you think your English writing skills have improved after completing this Wix e-portfolio? (You can talk about your improvement in these aspects: vocabulary, grammar, writing skills, motivation and confidence in writing, and interaction with peers.)

After completing this Wix e-profolio, I feel more comfortable to let other people read my composition, and I develop a habit of double checking my grammar before posting my work on Wix website. Besides, I learn many vocabulary and different writing skills while I reading my classmates’ essays and journals. Wix e-portfolio really helps me improve my English writing skills.

2. What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for the final essay drafts?

I think it’s good to provide the final version of our composition on Wix. It is like a record and we can go back to see what we wrote before.

3. What do you think about creating the Wix e-portfolio for journal writing and commenting?

Reading my readers’ comments makes me happy. I also enjoy reading others’ journals and leaving comments. This form is like the “Exchange Diary” that I used to do when I was young.

 

4. Do you think that journal writing should be conducted in the same way as essay writing (i.e., Draft 1, peer review, Draft 2, conferencing, and Draft 3 on Wix)? Why or why not?

No. I don’t think we need to do that in journal writing. I think journal is not a formal writing style but a free one. Therefore, if strict rules were put on journal writing, such as asking for thesis statements, topic sentences, transition words…, it would kill writers’ creativity and freedom to write. However, if the purpose is to teach us how to write an attractive journal/story, I will agree to conduct the journal writing in the same way as essay writing.

 

5. What did you benefit from TA feedback after you posted each final essay draft and journal on your Wix e-portfolio? (TA feedback was presented via Excel file and PPT slides).

I will get some useful suggestions from TA to adjust the design on my website. Basically, the suggestions are about color, word font, layout which help me to improve the clarity of my composition.

6. What did you benefit from conducting self-assessment and peer-assessment of the Wix e-portfolio in the second semester?

Self-assessment helps me to check the completeness of my website on my own, I can follow the format to complete it step by step, and peer-assessment helps me to check the parts that I neglected.

 

7. How did this Wix e-portfolio enhance your skills other than writing?

I think Wix e-portfolio enhances my web design skill. Through two web design workshops, I learnt how to insert different materials in my website.

8. Overall, what did you benefit from creating and managing this Wix e-portfolio? How is it different from uploading your assignments on ecourse2 ?

Uploading my assignment on ecourse2 is easier than on Wix. Wix is always being lag and designing the layout is troublesome. However, I feel a sense of achievement by completing this e-portfolio.

 

 

Challenges 

 

1. What difficulties have you encountered in terms of creating and editing your Wix e-portfolio over these two semesters?

The difficulty I encountered is the copyright issue. I need to beware of the copyright issue when I put the pictures on my Wix website. At first, I didn’t put the pictures’ sources on my website. Therefore, after the teacher mentioned this issue, I spent a lot of time finding out every source of every picture on my web and provided a link under the picture.

2. Among all the difficulties mentioned above, what was the most challenging one? How did you handle this challenge?

The most challenging difficulty is to make my website have continuity. In order to make my website look comfortable with integrity. I spent lots of time making sure the word font and word size are the same.

3. Will you continue to use or write posts on this Wix e-portfolio in the future? Why or why not?

I don’t actually know. I think the Wix e-portfolio is good to show my life and works. It might bring advantage when I look for a job in the future. But in fact, no one will read my work on Wix after finishing this English composition class. Therefore, there is no need for me to write something that people have no chance to see. I will prefer to share things on my IG stories. On IG, there are more readers, shorter writings, and lighter burden.
